Isthmian League

Walthamstow Avenue

5 - 1
Wimbledon
Jack Wallis (?)

Playing only their second league game since Boxing Day, Wimbledon began to clear their huge backlog of games with a visit to Green Pond Lane to face second placed Walthamstow. The home team adapted better to the appalling conditions underfoot and, inspired by Saunders in midfield, easily beat the reshuffled Dons. Doug Munday and Jimmy Smith both failed fitness tests and one of their deputies - Eddie Jennings - was then injured after half an hour. The scores were still level at the time, but the ten men were overwhelmed in the final hour.
