Neil Shipperley's late goal earns 10-man Wimbledon a vital victory at the Hawthorns to shatter West Brom's dreams of clocking up a fifth successive league victory.

The game was deep into injury time when Dons midfielder Kevin Cooper lashed in a shot that was parried by Albion's Russell Hoult and Shipperley pounced to score.

Wimbledon were reduced to 10 men just before half time when striker David Connolly picked up his second yellow card in the space of four minutes.

Connolly, cautioned for an earlier foul, booted the ball into the Albion net after being ruled offside and Preston referee Phil Richards immediately showed him the red card.

Albion, beaten for the first time in eight outings, always held the edge and they came desperately close in the 22nd minute when veteran striker Bob Taylor powered his close range header against the post.

After the break Gary Megson's men continued to hold the aces and Johnson was denied for the second time by the agile Davis in the 51st minute.

Albion continued to press and in the 89th minute Taylor had a diving header well saved by Davis after a pinpoint cross from Michael Appleton.
