Wimbledon moved into second place, six points behind leaders Leytonstone with two games in hand after the team defeated bottom of the table Tufnell Park in SW19. A brilliant 30 yard drive from Munday set the Dons on their way before Stannard missed a penalty meaning the hosts were unable to increase their lead before half time. Jimmy Smith netted soon after the break only for Sparks to pull a goal back from the spot to delight the supporters who had travelled down from Edmonton. But their hopes were dashed when Gauntlett and Bird added further goals in the final quarter as the game finished in near total darkness. With Jack Wallis still absent, 21 year old Dick Bloomfield â€" who only had one functioning eye following an accident - produced another impressive game at right half.
