Despite driving rain turning the pitch into a sea of mud, the Dons did just enough to beat Woking and earn a third round tie against local rivals Tooting. Always the better team in the first half, the hosts took a two goal lead and then had to defend desperately once the Cards pulled one back straight after the interval. Stannard restored the two goal cushion on the hour and Wimbledon were relatively untroubled until Pink’s strike five minutes from time ensured a tense finale as the visitors, roared on by their substantial following, sought to take the game into extra time. |
